Gavin Wall

Officer's Career to Date:

Gavin Wall joined the Academy following in the footsteps of his father Chief Petty Officer Graeme Wall. Whereas his father was a stolid, hardworking crewman the younger Wall proved to be rash and impetuous, surviving his Academy career thanks to a series of highly unlikely yet fortunate incidents. A member of the Zimmerframe crew during the Aurora Incident, Wall took the helm under combat conditions and executed a series of unorthodox manoeuvres. Despite this, the incident was resolved successfully.

Graduating the Academy in 2286, Wall was posted to the USS Hotspur on border patrol on the Romulan Neutral Zone. As part of his duties as shuttle pilot and Delta shift helmsman Wall was involved in the test phase of the latest design of Starfleet shuttles. Thanks to his propensity for increasingly unsafe attempts to push the flight envelope of these experimental craft the test team received more performance data than they were expecting, and Wall was rewarded with a promotion to Lieutenant j.g. Unfortunately his carefree attitude did not sit well with his captain's more regulated approach and Wall found himself posted to Starbase 54.

As one of the only two shuttle pilots on the station this was perhaps not the most taxing of roles and indeed Wall's tenure on 54 was only enlivened when the station's senior shuttle pilot died of boredom and Wall was promoted to Lieutenant to take his place. Wall responded to the unremitting tedium of being the senior shuttle pilot on board a starbase that rarely, if ever, operated its shuttles by establishing his own private business. This involved, in defiance of interstellar law, ferrying thrill-seekers back and forth across the Romulan Neutral Zone aboard the starbase's shuttles. This came to the attention of Starfleet Intelligence who realised Wall was completely ignorant of the wider ramifications of his actions. Rather than prosecute him for committing an act of war three times a week the hapless Lieutenant was unknowingly recruited to ferry deep-cover agents and dissidents across the Neutral Zone, believing it was part of his adventure holiday business.

It became necessary after some time to close down the operation. To disguise the precise details of the ferry service Starfleet Intelligence arranged for Wall to receive a promotion and go on extended leave.

Subject Whiskey was chosen for this role due to his complete lack of awareness of the universe around him. Thus it was possible to persuade him that his covert insertion onto Romulus was in fact the result of him having won a gameshow he never took part in, the first prize of which was a nine-month holiday of a lifetime on sunny Romulus. His original role was to act as a decoy who would be detected and arrested by the Tal Shiar thus allowing the real deep cover operative to complete his mission undetected. Due to reasons passing understanding Subject Whiskey not only evaded detection but inadvertently completed the primary mission after the deep cover operative was detected and arrested. He then managed to exfiltrate himself and reported to our debriefing team (posing as the presenter of the gameshow) with the required data, still under the impression he had been using up his accumulated nine months shore leave. Note: We can now cancel the shore leave from his file as he believes he has had it.

Upon returning from leave Wall was posted as Chief Helmsman to USS Psycho.
